Students will become acquainted with aspects of poetry and prose by studying a broad variety of literature in English with a focus on the past two hundred years. 2. Students will explore the nature of poetry and poetic devices. 3. Students will analyze the various components of the short story. 4. Students will be capable of critical writing about literature. 5. Students will gain confidence in oral proficiency and dramatic reading through the works under discussion. Course Outline: 1.
